Section 411

I’ll be honest: Section 411 hasn’t exactly become the household name I once imagined.1 So if you’re reading this, you probably already know me. But if you’re new here and wondering what kind of person writes a Terraform/Fargate tutorial and a review of Hamilton — and thinks they belong on the same website — you’re about to find out.

My name is Jimmy Sawczuk. I grew up in northeast Ohio but moved to South Carolina after college and have been here ever since. I’m married to my wonderful wife, Sara, and we have two amazing kids, my son Mac and my daughter Ada. They remind me every day of God’s goodness and of the depth of Jesus’ love — far beyond anything I can grasp.

I love to run, for many reasons. I love the sense of freedom that comes from being outside, alone, with my thoughts. But I also love ice cream — and pretty much every other kind of junk food — so running helps keep the balance.

I’m a baseball fan, and my team is the Cleveland Guardians.2 (In fact, this site is named after a seating section in Progressive Field, the Guardians’ home ballpark.) I don’t love the fact that the Guardians now have the longest championship drought in baseball, but I’m eternally hopeful that this year is our year, and I try not to take the losses too hard — though 2016 still stings. In the meantime, one of my favorite things about baseball is that every stadium is different, and I’m on a quest to visit every ballpark in Major League Baseball.3

I have some strong opinions: about hot dog condiments4, peanut butter brands5, movies6, their scores, and more. I love defending them too, especially if they’re silly. But I take pride in being open to changing my mind on just about any topic, serious or not.

I write about both kinds of topics on Section 411. So please send your feedback, your counterarguments, or your hot takes. I can’t guarantee I’ll agree with them, but I’ll certainly read them with an open mind.
